Compressor repair on the chiller and upgrade of two AHUs in a 16-storey office building.
Air handling units
AHU — air handling units
An AHU controls the quality, temperature and humidity of the fresh air supplied to a building. A poorly maintained unit wastes energy and delivers dirty air.
About the service
An air handling unit (AHU) filters outdoor air, cools or heats it and distributes it to rooms through ducts. When filters clog, the fan works harder, airflow drops and rooms feel stuffy.
We do everything from filter replacement to fan balancing and re-tuning the controls.
What we check during service
- Filter pressure drop and replacement
- Fan belt tension and bearings
- Heat recovery unit cleaning
- Washing the cooling and heating coils
- Cleaning the drain pan and trap
- Damper and actuator operation
- Airflow measurement and balancing
- Calibrating control sensors

Questions
How often should filters be changed?
In Baku's dusty climate we usually change pre-filters every 1–2 months and fine filters every 3–6 months. The pressure drop across the filter gives the exact timing.
The air in the rooms feels heavy — why?
Most often the fresh-air damper is barely open, a filter is clogged or the fan belt has loosened. We measure on site to find the cause.
Can you make an existing AHU more energy-efficient?
Yes. Adding a frequency drive, EC fans or heat recovery can cut energy use significantly.
